The Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a computer-adaptive standardized test in mathematics and the English language for measuring aptitude to succeed academically in graduate business studies. Business schools use the test as a criterion for admission into graduate business administration programs. The GMAT test is broken up into three sections:

1) Analytical Writing Assessment (AWA)

2) Verbal Section

3) Quantitative Section

"Preparation for GMAT " courses cover only the quantitative (math) section of the test. It contains questions which measure basic math skills, understanding of elementary concepts, and the ability to reason quantitatively. The questions cover three basic areas, arithmetic, algebra, and geometry. There are two types of questions on the quantitative section: problem solving and data sufficiency.

Problem Solving questions assess basic mathematical skills and understanding, and basic reasoning skills. Some of the questions are word problems, in which you must reason with a common scenario.

Data Sufficiency questions assess your ability to analyze a quantitative problem, and determine which information is relevant and sufficient to finding a solution.
