MAJOR REQUIREMENTS
All anthropology majors are required to take the following courses:
100 Level • Introduction to Cultural Anthropology • Introduction to Archeology • Language and Culture • Introduction to Physical Anthropology
• Introduction to Development
200 Level • Field Research Methods • Fieldwork (Ethnography) • Fieldwork (Archaeology)
300 Level • History of Anthropological Theory
400 Level • Senior Seminar • Senior Thesis
Five topical core courses from the following (Students should take two courses from the 200 and 300 levels and one course from the 400 level):
200 Level • Archaeology of Central Asia • Folklore of Central Asia • Anthropology of Kinship
300 Level • Environmental Anthropology • Medical Anthropology • Anthropology of Religion
400 Level • Political Anthropology • Applied Anthropology
Two 200 Level regional courses from the following: • Peoples and Cultures of Central Asia • Peoples and Cultures of Oceania • Peoples and Cultures of North America • Peoples and Cultures of the Middle East • Peoples and Cultures of East Asia
• Rock Art in Eurasia
• Peoples and Cultures Siberia and Far East
Total: 54 credits
GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS
Major Requirements • 144 credits, including Fieldwork and Senior thesis • a senior thesis and State exam of Anthropology • TOEFL not below than 550 points • observance of the Honors Code of AUCA.
