1. ES required courses: To graduate from the ES program students must complete 54 credits of required courses and 6 credits of elective courses (on second foreign languages). 2. ES Electives: The European Studies program offers a number of elective courses. Thereby, the electives can be updated each semester depending on their relevance or popularity among students. So far the program has offered the following elective courses: 200 level courses:
Extremism and Democracy in Europe The European Union and Its Regions Germany, the European Union, and Central Asia Uncivil Society in Europe Enemies of democracy in Western Europe
300 level courses: Patterns of Regional Integration Europe: A Community of Values State and Society in the Medieval Europe Migration and Refugees in Europe The Philosophy of Freedom in Europe Nazi Germany: 1933-1945 EU’s external relations European Public Policy
400 level courses: Ecotourism ethics and development Cultural and natural heritage in Europe
3. ES Second Foreign Language Component: In addition to the required 15 credits for the intensive language training in the first four semesters, ES students can choose REL and IC course in German and French.
The ES electives in the second foreign language aim to raise the language awareness of our students through offering contents relating to European politics, history, society, and culture. On the 4th course senior students attend seminar for ES state exam preparation. Doing so, the program seeks to broaden lingual perspectives of its students on Europe.
