MATHEMATICS AND NATURAL SCIENCES

«Mathematics should be studied because it puts the mind in order»

                                                                                          Lomonosov M.

Mathematics is a part of human culture and a basis for a liberal arts education essential to every modern person. The application of mathematical methods enlarges the possibilities of each specialist and thus, for students, mathematics is a cornerstone of logic and the inductive and deductive methods. By studying mathematics, students form their professional thinking.

ABOUT US

The program offers general education and required courses for all AUCA students in Mathematics and Natural Sciences.  To be successful, one should have comprehensive as well as critical thinking; should be able to explain his/her position reasonably; and should set problems and find ways for solving them.  We teach all these things to our students as part of all our classes.  These qualities are necessary for “enlightened and impassioned leaders for the democratic transformation ofCentral Asia”, that we should educate in accordance with the mission of our University.

OVERALL GOALS

In every student we try to develop:

  • abstract and logical (probative) thinking,
  • the ability to set and solve problems,
  • a acquiring as basic knowledge of contemporary mathematics,
  • an appreciation the value for the major degree being studied of continued mathematical education.

OUR FACULTY

There are 15 full time and 3 part-time teachers on the department, including 2 Doctors and 9 Candidates of Science

A research culture, which is an essential part of our development. Research interests of our teachers are in the following fields:

  • Nonclassical and incorrect problems of Mathematical Physics (Atamanov E.)
  • Application of statistical methods for the solution problem in Economics (Asanov T., Urmambetov B.)
  • Mathematical modeling in Economics (Kydyraliev S., Musuralieva E.)
  • Mathematical Modeling in Geophysics. Numerical Methods. Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations (Sklyar S., Altynnikova L.)
  • Methodology of teaching mathematics (Atamanov E., Altynnikova L., Kydyraliev S., Kerimkulova E., Musuralieva E., Sklyar S.)
  • Computer-based teaching of mathematics (Dolmatova P.)
