ACADEMIC RULES AND REGULATIONS

Academic Regulations

GENERAL ACADEMIC REGULATIONS

The aim of this section is to provide students with information concerning their responsibilities and general graduation requirements. All general requirements and rules have been discussed and adopted by the AUCA Curriculum Development Committee and approved by the AUCA Academic Senate. If you have any questions, please address them to your Advisor or the Registrar’s Office (Main Building, Room 101), or consult the AUCA website: http://www.auca.kg.

ATTENDANCE

Attendance is expected during all weeks of the semester (including the Add/Drop period). Poor attendance may dramatically impact grades; therefore, students who miss a substantial number of classes may want to consider withdrawing from the course (deadline is the 10th week of the semester; see the Grading System section for more information). Also, depending on the circumstance, a student who has repeated absences should consider speaking with his/her Department Chair and Academic Advisor about taking Academic Leave.

VISA REGULATIONS

International students should obtain visas, depending on their citizenships, prior to arrival in Kyrgyzstan. They must check with the Student Visa and Registration Coordinator in Room 128 within two days of arriving in Bishkek, to complete registration with the Kyrgyz Ministry of Internal Affairs. To arrange for a new visa or to register as a foreign national, please see the Student Visa and Registration Coordinator.

More-detailed information is available on AUCA’s website: VISA

MILITARY TRAINING REGULATIONS

Sophomores and juniors should remember that courses in military training do not carry credits at AUCA. However, students will be awarded military certificates upon successful completion of all the requirements of these courses.
