Job Search Strategies

Remember that you will be looking for a job more than once throughout your life and professional career. In order to avoid mistakes and extra and/or wrong efforts in this process you will have to use several methods and strategies. Do not forget that ways and techniques of job search always depend on the field in which you are looking for a job. Meet the Advising and Career Services professional to prepare a strategy, which will best serve your career objectives. Start working on job search, while still a student!

Comprehend and make clear your interests, skills, and career objectives for yourself!

It will be much easier to choose a job search strategy when you have a clear idea on:

  • what kind of organization or company you would like to work for;
  • your strengths and skills, how you can be useful there;
  • your values, what is important for your career objectives.

Make sure to attend self-assessment workshop organized by the Advising and Career Services!

Discover your options

  • Talk to the Advising and Career Services professionals to see what the partners of the AUCA ACS have to offer;
  • Become a member of the AUCA Alumni Association. Every Monday the AA coordinator sends out newsletter with the vacancy announcements from different companies;

Spot out and explore potential employers

As soon as you made it clear for yourself what field you would like to focus your job search you can go ahead and identify prospective employers. There are several tools:

  • Career Fairs;

AUCA Advising and Career Services organizes Career fairs twice a year: Fall Career Fair (held in late October - early November);

  • E-recruiting;

Most of the prospective companies have websites and post their vacancies on-line. Also, there are several websites where international organizations, NGOs, governmental agencies post their vacancy announcements;

  • Recruitment agencies;

Get in touch with recruitment and personnel agencies; send them your resume and career objective. Call them and initiate an interview.

Make sure to attend "How to be successful at Career Fair" workshop organized by the ACS!
