May 11, 2020

Dear AUCA Faculty and Staff,

In accordance with the decision of the Republican Headquarters for the fight against Covid-19, chaired by the Prime Minister of the Kyrgyz Republic, the State of Emergency (SE) in the Kyrgyz Republic ends at midnight on May 10, 2020. The curfew will be canceled at the same time.

Because of a difficult epidemiological situation in a number of regions of Kyrgyzstan, in these regions, including the city of Bishkek, the Emergency Situation (ES), established on March 22, 2020, will remain in force for an undefined period of time.

Following the requirements of the Emergency Situation (ES) in the Kyrgyz Republic, only employees of authorized organizations are allowed to move around the city and to minimum distances and only for the urgent need (i.e. purchase of medicines, food, etc.). Educational institutions are not included in the list of allowed organizations. We kindly ask everyone to strictly follow the established regulations.

For the sake of your safety, the AUCA administration closely monitors the measures taken and restrictions imposed by the Kyrgyz authorities, and bring its actions in line with the government decisions. We will inform you about all the relevant changes.

The rules and restrictions established previously by the administration of AUCA will stay valid as long as it is required by the Kyrgyz authorities. Our current model of operation does not require changes yet as it is adequate to the requirements of the Emergency Situation.

We remind you that the AUCA administration introduced the following rules for the period of the Emergency Situation:

  1. The AUCA campus is closed for students, faculty, and staff.

  2. All AUCA activities are transferred to a remote mode of operation.

  3. The learning process and examinations will be conducted online.

  4. Strengthened control over the sanitary condition of the AUCA dormitory will continue.

Working hours and working schedules remain the same as they were before the shutdown. All the work must be fully carried out online. Salaries will be calculated and paid as usual according to labor agreements.

All administrative work goes online. We ask administrative staff to be as accessible as possible by means of communication.

All financial documents, reports, memos will be approved online through e-mails.

Department Heads, Program Coordinators, and heads of offices of AUCA should necessarily inform the faculty and staff, who do not have access to their AUCA mailbox, about the content of the present letter.

We also inform you that the counseling service is still available free-of-charge for faculty, staff, and students upon call or email requests.
