Environmental Management and Sustainable Development Program

 

Introduction to Environmental Management (EM) and Sustainable Development course -  is an introduction to ecological, economic, political, and sociocultural perspectives on relationships between humans and the rest of the natural world. In the course, students will examine options for developing more sustainable communities and lifestyles in the face of local and global change.

 

The Environmental Chemistry course for Undergraduate Program provides students with a foundation to support future advanced course work in chemistry. The fate of chemicals in the environment and their effects are matters of increasing concern to specialists in environmental management. The aim of the course is to give a broad introduction to environmental chemistry and current environmental issues as well as the chemical methods and models used to assess these.

 

Basic of Ecology and International Environmental Protection is an introductory science course on environmental issues. Students will learn the basics of interactions between the human systems and the natural world, social mechanisms that help the students to identify the environmental problems in the future and to build a basis to supporting long-term solutions for the benefit of current and future generations.

 

Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) has been progressively introduced over recent decades as a tool to help deliver sustainable development. In this course, students learn ESIA theories, methods, regulations and its historical process.

 

Academic writing at the Writing and Academic Recourse Center (WARC), is the process of breaking down ideas and using deductive reasoning. It is about what you think and what evidence has contributed to that thinking. Academic writing is helping identify and understand the methodology of writing scientific essays, research papers, master thesis and dissertations.

 

Introduction to R: Software of statistical computing course is designed to get you over the basic hurdles you will face when beginning to learn R. It will cover some of the basic tasks that you face as quantitative researchers and will put you in a position to extend your knowledge of R in whatever direction is required to meet your own needs. This course gives students an opportunity to use the public domain and free software R to perform statistical computing. This course has an interconnection with Geographic information system (GIS).

 

GIS Application in EM, GIS is a powerful software technology that allows a virtually unlimited amount of information to be linked to a geographic location. GIS technology is used to support and deliver information to environmental managers and the public. GIS allows the combination and analysis of multiple layers of location-based data including environmental measurements.

 

The purpose of Environmental Geophysics course is to introduce the basic concepts involved in applying physics to understand the Earth. Also fundamental techniques of geophysical data collection and analysis will be discussed.

 

Environmental Management System is to impart an understanding of systems approach as per ISO 14001:2004 and skills for the management of environmental issues. Environmental issues need to be managed before they can be reported on, and this requires changes to management accounting systems.

 

Water Resource System Planning and Management course is designed to acquaint students with the role of analytical methods in water resources planning processes.

 

The Environmental and Socio-Economic Impacts of Mining studies the environmental deterioration caused by mining occurs mainly as a result of inappropriate and wasteful working practices and rehabilitation measures.
