ESCA Students visit AUCA’s New Campus and Library

April 21, 2016

On April 15, a group of thirteen tenth and eleventh grade students from the European School of Central Asia (ESCA) visited the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) for a campus tour accompanied by ESCA’s secondary school coordinator, Daniel Comar, their librarian, Tolgonai Erkinova, and a couple other teachers. The trip was coordinated by the respective libraries of ESCA and AUCA in light of a new agreement allowing ESCA students access to AUCA’s library resources.

The ESCA students and teachers were led around all five floors of the school by AUCA student volunteers, on the way answering the students’ questions ranging from “What kind of academic programs does AUCA offer?” to “what is your favorite café at AUCA?”

For the kids, the highlight of the trip was a brief moment to peruse AUCA’s library. Students picked up books on Feminism, HTML, Cervantes, Postmodernism, German, and Spanish to name a few. The teachers were impressed with the scope of the collection and expressed appreciation that the students would soon be able to benefit from AUCA’s library resources. An AUCA staff member noted the collection was, in fact, larger when you consider “the extensive online resources that our library provides.”

After the tour, the group attended an admissions pitch and took pictures in front of the new campus building.
