On January 29, the American University of Central Asia hosted an indoor football match with the Embassy of Afghanistan in Bishkek. AUCA’s Afghan students played for the AUCA team alongside AUCA President Andrew Wachtel as their goalie.
After the game, Wachtel said, “having an indoor football game with all Afghan players was impossible a few years ago. Fortunately today it happens and we have the majority of players as our students.”
The ambassador of Afghanistan in Bishkek, Mohammad Essa Mesbah, remarked, “these youth studying at AUCA are the future of Afghanistan. AUCA students are very lucky for studying in an international university with a diverse community.”
In the near future, AUCA will be hosting more sport events with international teams.
