Kanat Sultanaliev, M.Sc., Environmental Sciences, Policy and Management from University of Manchester (UK), Central European University (Hungary) and Lund University (Sweden). Diploma in Economics and Management from the Kyrgyz State National University.
Before coming to TSPC Mr. Sultanaliev worked for International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) as Country Presence Officer and for United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) in the capacity of National Programme Officer on Climate Change.
Prior to that, from 2010 till 2012, he worked for Global Mechanism of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification as the Regional Resource Mobilization Specialist for Central Asia in the Multi-country Capacity Building Project of Central Asian Countries Initiative on Land Management (CACILM). Within this Project Mr. Sultanaliev was responsible for implementation of the Resource Mobilization component aimed at elaboration of the Integrated Financing Strategies on Sustainable Land Management in all Central Asian countries.
In 2006-2008 Kanat worked in UNDP/Kyrgyzstan as Program Assistant on Environment.
He coordinated ongoing and pipeline UNDP environmental projects on various topics (pasture management, ozone layer protection, waste management, etc.).
In general, Mr. Sultanaliev has more than 15 years of experience in program development, management and implementation. His professional interests include sustainable development, environmental protection, rural development, democratic governance and transparency/accountability issues.
He is fluent in English, Russian and Kyrgyz.
