This winter, the Student Intellectual Life Committee offered Tajik senior students of the Psychology Department the opportunity to visit their homeland and collect data for their senior thesis.

Laziz Abdulazizov, a sophomore student of Liberal Arts and Sciences at AUCA, is currently studying at the Norwegian University of Life Sciences in Norway. Even though it is not the first time he lives abroad far from his family and friends, life in Norway feels totally different.

Nurzat Rakhmanberdieva became the SILC awardee and attended the Grace Hopper Conference for Women in Computing held in Arizona, USA.

AUCA is a home for democracy, freedom of speech, pluralism and diversity, opportunities and knowledge. Take the full knowledge that AUCA offers. Yesterday, on March 19th, the president of AUCA, Andrew Wachtel led a special tour around the new university campus for the 11th graders from school #60 in Bishkek. Almost 50 pupils visited the campus with their class instructors.

Yesterday, on March 12th, the Central Asian Studies Institute (CASI) hosted a research seminar on the thesis work of two senior students of the Sociology department.  Director of CASI and Head of MA program in Central Asian Studies, Svetlana Jacquesson, opened the seminar with a welcoming and introductory speech.

Yesterday, on March 6th, the students of AUCA had a meeting with Andrew Wachtel, the President of the University, Henry Mayerberg, the architect of the new campus and Karim Zerhouni, the Chief Information Officer on the progress of new campus and on the registration of new universal ID cards.

I entered AUK long time ago in 1998. There, I studied Business Administration. AUCA was a great springboard for me. I made a lot of friends, with whom I still keep in touch.

First of all, I would like to thank the Student Intellectual Life Committee (SILC) for supporting AUCA students to achieve excellence in research, learning and overall intellectual development with small grants.
