Make a Contribution - Give a Name to the AUCA New Campus!

March 7, 2015

Yesterday, on March 6th, the students of AUCA had a meeting with Andrew Wachtel, the President of the University, Henry Mayerberg, the architect of the new campus and Karim Zerhouni, the Chief Information Officer on the progress of new campus and on the registration of new universal ID cards.

The meeting began at 12 am with the introductory speech of the president, who talked about the relocation of students, faculty and staff to the new campus. Later, the Chief Information Officer of AUCA, Dr. Karim Zerhouni, made a presentation on the new universal ID card, which will serve as a unique key to all the activities on the campus.

The Universal ID card will replace the current Library ID card that will be necessary for printing, copying and borrowing books and will be required to access dormitories, sports facilities and take the transport provided by the university.  This brand new ID card will also used for money transaction of scholarship programs, payroll project, tuition payment and shopping in and out of campus. Any activities on the campus would not be possible without the universal ID card. “So, you should always keep your ID card with you!” – insisted Dr. Zerhouni.

The name of the new AUCA campus has also been discussed at the meeting. The current version so far offered by Dr. Zerhouni is AUCA ng (AUCA – Next Generation). Dr. Zerhouni encouraged students to contribute and make suggestions. This can be made through the following link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/auca_ng.  Following the presentation, students were supportive and eager to know more about this new ID card system.

Dr. Zerhouni left the floor to the architect, Henry Mayerberg, who talked about the new campus building and its architectural design. “The construction of the new campus is very much about accessibility and having a personal space in and outside classes” – noted Henry.
