Assistant Professor / Associate Professor International and Comparative Politics Department Faculty Position: Assistant Professor / Associate Professor Position: Full-time, Local Candidates who hold a Ph.D. degree in Political Science/International Relations Deadline: March 01, 2026 Start Date: August 01, 2026 The Department of International and Comparative Politics (ICP) at the American University of Central Asia is inviting applications from qualified local candidates for a full-time faculty position at the Assistant/Associate Professor levels. Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in Political Science and/or International Relations, and have demonstrated experience in teaching for more than three years. The candidate must have a specialization of the following areas and should prove the expertise by certificates or courses and research:
Full-time faculty are expected to teach 36 credits (ECTS), equal to six undergraduate-level courses per year (three per term), participate in academic advising of at least ten students, and supervise at least two senior theses per academic year. Responsibilities and expectations also include active participation in departmental activities and university services and conducting research. The faculty positions are open to citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic. The contract will be given for one academic year with a possibility of an extension based on the evaluation of teaching performance and departmental service. Interested candidates must submit their (1) CV, (2) Cover Letter, (3) two Reference Letters, (4) Statement of Teaching Philosophy (max. 1000 words), (5) Course Syllabi Examples on Quantitative Research Methods and Foreign Policy Analysis/Comparative Politics/International Relations, and (6) Teaching Evaluations as one single pdf document. Only candidates who hold Ph.D. degrees in Political Science/International Relations and expertise on Quantitative Research Methods will be considered.
