July 10, 2014

On June 27th, in solemn surroundings, “golden certificates” were presented to the winners of Kyrgyzstan’s National Scholarship Testing. The event took place in Bishkek with the participation of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Excited group of graduates arrived to the capital city from Kara-Balta, Talas, Osh, Batken, Karakol, and many other regions to await their meeting with the President.

The Vecherniy Bishkek newspaper interviewed one of the top graduates in the country, Amantur Kanimetov, who studied in the #61 Bishkek High School. His parents are very proud of their son for ranking as the best in the country. He said: “I didn’t study for this testing, but I worried like everyone. I didn’t expect to earn such high grades, so it is very pleasant for me.”

Amantur added that he had decided to study Information Technology at AUCA to further his future plans of developing software and websites.

The graduate expounded: “I liked math from childhood, and my school cultivated in me a love for all sciences. The main secret of my success is to study, study, and study.”

Yuri Nizovski, headmaster of the #61 Bishkek High School, is very satisfied once again with results of his students. Of the 53 top graduated in the entire country, 14 students of his school are on the list. “We just give opportunities to children to love studying and school. They should aim for hard work and titanic efforts, but these will pay their rewards. Our students are always discussing and arguing how to solve problems; they don’t have time for nonsense.”

In his congratulatory speech the President of the Kyrgyz Republic mentioned teachers. He asked attendees to never forget teachers and their contributions. The President expressed optimism: “We express special thanks to parents, teachers, and all the people who helped you gain such strong knowledge. Never forget them. I want to give you advice: life is not easy, you will have successes and failures, but life can hit hard. Those who endure and don’t go to pieces will reach success. Don’t go to pieces, stand firm – everything will be fine”.

After a short speech the award presentation commenced. Award winners were given certificates that allow them to enter any university in Kyrgyzstan, a one-time scholarship of 10,000 som, and a netbook from the President’s hands. Each of them was also photographed with the President.

Amongst the winners were graduates who just barely missed qualification for this certificate, the first year such students were invited to the event. They also were awarded with prizes. Maryna  Tokhtakunova, an alumna of #5 High School of Karakol who earned 217 points on the exams, intends to enter one of the Bishkek universities and is sure she will be fortunate in her efforts. “Of course I was a little bit upset because I couldn’t become one of the best in Kyrgyzstan, but my meeting with the President was a worthy reward for my efforts. Till the very last moment my mom didn’t believe that I was going to meet with the President, but it took place.”

In his conclusion, President Almazbek Atambaev wished all graduates success in finding their own ways in life and in helping Kyrgyzstan with all their strength. “I hope you will find the profession which will be useful for you in the future. Being employed is required at this moment. Soon the labor-market will require specialists in information technology, engineers, agronomists, builders.”
