November 13, 2015

On November 10th 2015, John Gray visited American University of Central Asia (AUCA) within the network of his workshop in Bishkek. This workshop was arranged by Central Eurasia Leadership Alliance.

John Gray – widely known personality in the area of human and family relations, author of more than 17 books translated to 48 languages and published in dozens of countries with millions of printed copies. He is one of the co-authors and players of the movie “The Secret”. More than 25 years of practice in the counseling of human relations and holding of seminars on personal growth. He was invited to speak by Larry King and Oprah Winfrey. His book “Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus” was included the New York Times to the list of 10 most influential books published within the last 30 years.

“I decided to visit AUCA because students speak English, and it was very interesting for me to talk with an English-speaking audience in the Kyrgyz Republic. Secondly, the young generation is our future. Today, young people experience a number of problems with pressure and stress. They face problems in building relationships. When a young man and young lady have positive relations, learn how to respect differences, world might be better and happier,” shared John Gray.

Jyldyz Karatalova, alumna of CELA and one of the seminar organizers, explained what is the CELA Academy and why they decided to bring John Gray to Kyrgyzstan and arrange his visit to AUCA.

“The CELA is an academy that has been around for 12 years. Every year, four to five participants from the Kyrgyz Republic set off to study at this academy. Nine countries from Eurasia and the Caucasus are participants of CELA. Within 12 years, about 50 individuals have graduated our academy. They are leaders in the Kyrgyz Republic, they can make the world around them better. To enter the academy, it is required that each applicant demonstrate they have reached something, are seeking something. In short, they need to prove that investments made to this leader, their education, can contribute to the development of the country. Thus, there are two main vectors we are working on were formed for CELA. First is the organization of an educational platform that would enable people to have access to high-quality knowledge. Second is charity. Of course, a part of the funds we gather for seminars we spend in reimbursements, but the rest is donated to social projects.

Previous trainings we have held have been oriented more to business and leadership. This time, we researched and decided we wanted help men and women build better mutual relationships. If humans have good relations between of themselves, if they are happy at home, in family, then they will be effective on the job. John, as famous counselor, psychotherapist, and expert in the area of relations between men and women arrived here and shared us with this knowledge. We read his book and thought that what it does for our country does not contradict our principles.

CELA always tries to improve involved projects, each time increasing its level of quality. It is no accident that AUCA was selected. Throughout its 20 years, AUCA has demonstrated a high level of graduates. They are professionals, prepared for life and labor. As an employer I can say that I select AUCA graduates personally and invite them for interview. I know that they have basic skills and knowledge to be ready for work right out of school. In our opinion, AUCA is one of the best universities. We offer the best business projects, so why not combine our efforts? Students are that target group, which can’t afford to buy tickets for this seminar. We decided, if we bring John Gray to Kyrgyzstan, we have to get the most from him. I hope we managed it and will manage to see an auditorium full of AUCA students."
