A Global Village: from Ghanaian national dance to Chervona Ruta

July 18, 2016

The Global Village is a colorful and cultural event part of the international Better Understanding for a Better World conference, which took place at the American University of Central Asia (AUCA) on July 14, 2016. The Civilizations Exchange & Cooperation Foundation (CECF) held its first BUBW conference in Bishkek on July 13-17 2016.

Approximately 100 guests from the Kyrgyz Republic, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Ukraine, and Ghana took part in the event.

Young people from these countries organized this event by themselves, demonstrating their skill in reciting, singing, dancing, and musical instruments.

Participants of the BUBW conference divided into groups and gave presentations in English about their home countries, culture, and traditions. Afterwards, they presented their customs to the audience with musical numbers.

Thus, the audience and participants were able to take in a variety of interesting cultural traditions including Kyrgyz songs performed on national musical instruments like the komuz, the chopo choor, and even the flute.

The audience was also treated to one of the most famous Ukrainian songs Chervona Ruta (Red Rue), the Russian love song Utro tumannoe (Foggy morning), recitations of Kyrgyz and Tajik poets, and Uzbek national dance.

The most exotic show was performed by a student from Ghana, who performed a national dance. He is currently studying in Moscow, Russia.

This concert proved once again, that art and talent unite us, and the world is just one “large village.”.
