Participation of AUCA student in the "The First Youth Competition of Ideas for a Sustainable Future"

December 13, 2016

Hafizullah Saeedi, freshmen in International and Comparative Politics, represented American University of Central Asia in the First Youth Competition of Ideas for A Sustainable Future at United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization Headquarter, Rome, Italy, from 30th November 2016 to 2nd December 2016. He was selected as the only participant from Afghanistan and Kyrgyzstan.

“Being a part of such a wonderful program where one hundred sixty interdisciplinary students from all over the world, youth professionals, experts, and institutional representatives had convened to constitute collaborative solutions to the world’s complex challenges, was an outstanding experience. Considering the youth capacities and their role in implementing the sustainable development goals, ZERO Hackathon was a great forum through which I not only got to know more about international pressing issues, new ways to tackle the complex challenges, but also that youths' persistance and togetherness is a key factor towards advancement of the world and creating better life circumstances.

Despite the fact that the world has witnessed significant advances in terms of human development, but still big challenges remain unsolved. Climate change and Hunger are two of the major challenges to the human societies. Highly motivated young students were brought together in FAO Headquarters to make concrete solutions to the challenges which are threatening the global stability. The three days of the conference were thoroughly productive, and the innovative projects presented by the participants made me wholly believe in youths’ capabilities in changing the conditions for better. Youths are empowered with modern education and have better insights into issues”.
