"The exchange program was a part of my academic goal"

May 18, 2022

Firoza Muradi is a sophomore student studying International Comparative Politics at the American University of Central Asia. Passion in learning new languages and interacting with students to learn about their customs and tradition across the globe moved her to apply to the student exchange program. Firoza applied to Lille university in France and upon fulfillment of her exchange semester, shared her experience with us.

As every student’s academic plan is to improve their general knowledge and follow their goals, as well as mine. Going to an exchange program was a part of my academic goal for the second year of the academic year where I could expand my network with students at the international level and practice the French language. The most important thing that I experienced from the exchange program was the observation of multinational students considering their background in academic life, how they are supporting education and how education has priority for the young generation in European countries

I completed my exchange program at Lille university which is one of the big public universities in Lille city of France. This university hosts each semester more than 30 or 35 international students from their partner universities around the world, and I was lucky to be a part of that amazing community. University have different standards and methods than the AUCA education system. A clear example can be the timing of classes. In France each lecture was 3 hours with 15 minutes break, but at AUCA we have 75 minutes for each class. During the study in France I improved some of the important academic skills such as writing and experienced training in discipline of the academic and personal life by working professionally.

I had a great impression of France, especially Paris - city of love, art and fashion which has a deep and decent history within it and that is the reason which attracts many tourists to visit this beautiful city in person every year. French culture is most associated with Paris, which is a center of fashion, cuisine, art, and architecture and I guess Paris is known as the city of lights. France doesn't just have culture; the word "culture" is French
