Till is a reader in Central Asian Studies at the University of Bern, Switzerland. He recevied Ph.D. from the University of Bern in 2013. Currently, he is in the process of conducting follow-up fieldwork in Central and South Asia, which will feed into the publication of his thesis "Azan on the Moon: Entangling Modernities along Tajikistan's Pamir Highway". Till has published on Islam in Kyrgyzstan, the Pamir Highway, local history in Tajikistan and on the Ismailis of the Eastern Pamirs. His current research interests also include the anthropology of development.
